The Naval Special Operations Unit 2 (NAVSOU2) of Naval Forces Northern Luzon in Poro Point, San Fernando, La Union conducted rescue and retrieval operation and evacuation to the affected families of Typhoon Maring at Luna, La Union on October 12.

As a result, the rescue operations and transport of essential supplies and provisions to the families at Brgy. Rimos 2,4, and 5, Luna, La Union was successfully conducted despite the rushing stream of water caused by Typhoon Maring.

The operation was done as the Philippine Navy has promised to continuously extend humanitarian assistance and disaster response in the spirit of bayanihan, especially to those who are affected by calamities and disaster, whose homes have been devastated and those residents that can only be reached by going through the flood.

“Whatever difficult challenge may lie ahead, NAVSOCOM will always be ready to answer; the simple smiles, wave of hands and warm thanks of the people who were rescued are more than enough to sustain the morale of our resilient frogmen and women to continue serving our country,” the NAVSOCOM said.
