The Department of Trade and Industry Region 2 received its highest audit rating from the Commission on Audit (CoA) for fiscal year 2021. This is the third year that CoA gave an “unqualified opinion”, the best opinion that a government agency can receive, on the DTI R2’s financial report since 2019, under the leadership of RD Leah Pulido Ocampo.
“From Day 1, my marching orders were to always be transparent, fair, honest, and prudent in all our transactions. [We should] always bear in mind that we are using people’s money, and therefore, we should strive to give what is due to the people, to always be mindful and respectful of CoA’s mandate to disallow irregular, unnecessary, excessive, extravagant, illegal, or unconscionable dispensation of government funds,” RD Ocampo said proudly, underscoring that this latest accomplishment of her office is the best news she has ever received.
RD Ocampo also extends her appreciation to the DTI R2 employees, along with (ret.) ARD Ruben Diciano and (curr.) ARD Winston Singun, for working hard to make public service delivery more efficient and epitomize the “Serbisyong Higit Pa Sa Inaasahan.”
As per the CoA report, state auditors rendered an unqualified opinion on the fairness of the presentation of its financial statements, for three consecutive years, in accordance with the Philippine Public Sector Accounting Standards.
In its management letters, CoA said the audit evidence it obtained was “sufficient and appropriate” to provide a basis for its opinion. # (DTI PR)
