In a significant development in San Mariano, Isabela, one former NPA in the barrio voluntarily surrendered to local authorities on August 20, 2023. Alyas “Robin”, took a brave step forward, leaving behind his life of armed insurgency and embracing the path of peace and reintegration. In a report submitted, alyas Robin revealed that he was recruited by “Ka Johnny/Milis (Melicio Casosola)” sometime in the year 2007.
He underwent basic training (BKP) in Dinapigue, Isabela. His group exclusively operated in the Sierra Madre areas, spanning from Ilagan to San Mariano, Isabela, under CTL “Ka Mega”.
In addition, in 2009, he assumed a lay-low status. While in this state, alyas Robin was also directed to organize the youth of Barangay Dibuluan, San Mariano, Isabela, to become part of the PASA-BILIS of the UGM. When the UGM eventually disbanded in the main area, he continued to maintain his lay-low status until he voluntarily surrendered.
The personnel of San Mariano PS facilitated the voluntary surrender and withdrawal of support of Alyas Robin against CTGs. His voluntary surrender was made possible through the dedicated efforts of San Mariano Ps with the assistance of the Barangay Officials of Dinuguan. (PNP Region 2 press release).
