Today, January 9, is the celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene, also known as the Traslación.
Devotees pray for Lord’s blessings and with faith to face hardships and challenges with trust and compassion.
Here are excerpts from the Roman Catholic archdiocese:
A Blessed and Happy Feast Day!
JESUS, THE BLACK NAZARENE
January 9, 2025
“I had on My Shoulder while I bore My Cross on the Way of Sorrows, a grievous Wound that was more Painful than the others, and which is not recorded by men. HONOR THIS WOUND with thy Devotion, and I will Grant thee Whatsoever thou dost ask through its Virtue and Merit. And in regard to all those who shall Venerate this Wound, I will Remit to them all their venial sins and will No Longer Remember their mortal sins.”
—JESUS’ Words to St. Bernard
Then JESUS told his disciples:
“IF ANYONE WOULD COME AFTER ME, LET HIM DENY HIMSELF AND TAKE UP HIS CROSS AND FOLLOW ME… For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?”
—Matthew 16:24-26
BELOVED LORD JESUS NAZARENE, we come to You to help us. Life is a constant struggle, and we now feel the pain of our journey. Bless us JESUS and teach us to listen, to all the events of our life, knowing that nothing happens by chance. Everything that happens has a reason. When we feel the pain or sickness, teach us to cope with loving surrender and to believe in the power of healing. When we experience emotional, financial and psychological brokenness, help us to rise up with belief that “WITH GOD, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE” (Luke 1:37). We come to You today, to pray for healing and deliverance, and beg You to listen to our petitions, if it is for the greater Glory of GOD!
O Merciful LORD, with a fervent Hope, we beseech You and through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin MARY, that with Your infinite and loving Mercy, You will hear and grant our prayers. Have pity on us Your suffering children! Amen.
BLACK NAZARENE, I TRUST IN YOU!
VIVA, SEÑOR JESUS NAZARENO!
