EXTREME heat can cause death, in Luzon they could reach the “DANGER LEVEL” because they will experience extreme heat. Everyone should stay hydrated and keep their health in good condition.

Five areas in Luzon could reach the “danger level” of the heat index last Friday, PAG-ASA forecasted. Based on its 5pm weather bulletin last March 6, 2025, the state weather bureau said a heat index of 42 degrees Celsius was expected in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, San Jose and Iba, Zambales, Ambulong and Tanauan, Batangas; Occidental Mindoro; Cuyo, Palawan.

The heat index measures how arid it feels to the human body, factoring in humidity and the actual air temperature. A heat index between 42 and 51 degrees Celsius is under the “danger” category, which poses health risks such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.

Meanwhile, NAIA Pasay City will see a heat index of 40 degrees Celsius, while Science Garden Quezon City will experience 39 degrees Celsius on Friday.

A heat index from 33 to 41 degrees Celsius is under “extreme caution” category, where heat cramps and heat exhaustion are possible continuing activity could lead to heat stroke.

On Thursday, Dagupan, Pangasinan experienced a 45 degrees Celsius temperature while Iba, Zambales; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; and Cuyo, Palawan encountered a 42 degrees Celsius temperature.

He added that the Northeast Monsoon or “Amihan” may last until mid-March, prompting the shift to the warm and dry season.

PAG-ASA earlier explained the extreme temperatures hitting the country this time of year are fairly normal as the country starts to transition from rainy to dry season.

Stay hydrated, everyone must take a bath especially adults and seniors to prevent heat stroke.
