TUGUEGARAO CITY-As a jumpstart activity for the 442nd Aggao Nac Cagayan 2025 events themed “Pagguruffunan: Endless Fun, Cagayan” this month, at least 800 bamboo propagules were simultaneously planted by provincial government workers and volunteers in Pata, Tuao, Cagayan.
Governor Manuel Mamba, who remain on his post despite a disqualification by the Commission on Elections due to his Supreme Court appeal, emphasized the importance of protecting the environment especially the planting of trees and bamboo propagules to alleviate the flooding experienced in the province, particularly in low-lying areas.
He called on all Cagayanos to participate in the advocacy promoted by the provincial government for environmental protection such as the planting of bamboo trees along the rivers in the province.
The tree growing activity is a part of the “I Love Cagayan River Movement” which aims to improve the Cagayan River to alleviate the flooding experienced in the province by planting trees and bamboo along the banks of the Cagayan River and its tributaries.
The tree planting is one of the highlighted events of the various provincial celebrations in response to the worsening environmental problems, he added.
Tuao Mayor William Mamba lauded the “continued advancement in environmental protection and choosing the town of Tuao as one of the places where the annual tree growing activity will be held.” #
