TUGUEGARAO CITY-The dearth of water in Basco town in Batanes island-province has been experienced by some households on Monday in the past days as faucets trickle due to a damaged pipeline along Mount Iraya watershed, the Basco local government unit said in an advisory.

Earlier, the Basco town government has issued a water interruption advisory due to its damaged facilities.

Aside from water damages, landslides also hobbled villagers in the island following the damages due to Typhoon Emong and northeast monsoon.

The areas have been damaged when Typhoon Crising hit the province.

Due to the situation, workers from the Local Government Unit Water Works hiked Mt. Iraya, the water source, and started fixing the damage.

The water source comes from Racuaranum Spring within Mt. Iraya watershed.

Meanwhile, Calayan Mayor Joseph Llopis has ordered the suspension of classes at all levels and at government offices except for essential workers for security, health, disaster response and rescue on July 28.#
