CAUAYAN CITY: The newly refurbished health center of the barangay government of District 1 in this city was formally turned over by the SM Foundation Inc (SMFI) in collaboration with UNIQLO Philippines at the barangay hall compound in Mabini street on March 23 late afternoon here.
The upgraded District 1 Health Center is a part of the foundation’s Health and Wellness Program launched in 2001 in an effort to have social good collaboration with partners, according to Connie Angeles, SM Foundation for Health and Medical Programs executive director.
Angeles lauded barangay front-liners for providing “quality healthcare despite the pandemic and natural calamities.” The foundation did not disclose the amount spent.
Once a dilapidated warehouse, the building was rebuilt and provided with health facilities. The foundation will also help in maintenance of the health center, she added.
The center’s reception area, lounge, and its room for treatment, consultation, pre-natal Room and TB DOTS Center were built.
The facility caters 50 average daily patients in the village’s 13,723 people or 3,712 households.
The building has been equipped with a fully air-conditioned unit new furniture sets, medical cabinets and kits, tools and fixtures.
The building has mobile play cabinets, creating a child-friendly environment for young patients.
Cauayan City Mayor Ceasar Dy Jr. lauded the foundation for refurbishing the once-decrepit health center in the villages, which include the newly turned over building.#
