TUGUEGARAO CITY-Mayor Maila Ting-Que was officially sworn in as the first-ever woman chief executive in this city by Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) Judge Rene Baculi at the city hall on June 30.
Ting-Que, who tallied 39,919 votes to dislodge incumbent mayor Jefferson Soriano who got 37,552 votes. Soriano ran but lost for his fourth consecutive term, claiming then that there was a voluntary interruption of service when he was suspended in his initial term of office.The lady mayor, whose late father Delfin ruled Tuguegarao from 2007 to 2013, was an incumbent ex-officio board member and city councilor.In an earlier interview with this correspondent, Que said she would focus on repackaging the city into a lean but working workforce from bulging bureaucracy “full of casuals” employed by the past administration.
