TUGUEGARAO CITY- The Cagayan State University (CSU) signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with SM Supermalls on Monday, June 20, to assist its student on-the-job trainees and graduates for apprenticeships and employment through job fairs.
Dr. Theresa Dimalanta, CSU Andrews campus executive director, said they initially started the MoA with SM in a bid to help the alumni during and after their stay with the university.
“The CSU graduates have the opportunities to be equipped with their competencies through apprenticeships and later have jobs through job fairs,” Dimalanta said in an interview with the reporters shortly after the signing of the MoA.
The agreement was signed “for mutual benefit” by Doctor Dimalanta; representatives of SM Supermalls Academe Program thru VP-HR Cheryll Ruth Agsaoay and AVP-Mall HRBP Atty Derek Reyes and represented by Human Resources Manager Lesleyan Paguio, and CSU Caritan Main campus thru Dr. Urdujah Alvarado and represented by campus vice president for partnership and research mobilization Dr. Giged Battung, , binding the institutions to work together and offer opportunities for student-trainees and graduates.
SM Center Tuguegarao Downtown Asst. Mall Manager Romel Uy and SM City Tuguegarao Assistant Mall Manager Kristine Ceballos were witnesses in the signing.
The agreement has established a partnership through an internship program, recruitment, job placement, and learning sessions.
“The alumni graduates would gain opportunities from various job vacancies from partner companies and affiliates and later land jobs,” Uy said.
“The SM Supermalls have been registered as the top employment generators not only in Tuguegarao City but also nationwide. The CSU alumni are with us and they are part of the SM Tuguegarao families,” he added.
The day-long job fair on the said date is expected to cater to about 500 applicants, mainly from the CSU.#
