CABARROGUIS, QUIRINO—In 2024, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Quirino Field Office provided livelihood assistance and wage compensation to 30,913 marginalized workers, totaling ₱141.6 million. This underscores the office’s dedication to assisting underprivileged workers through livelihood, skills development, and emergency employment programs.
The main services provided by the DOLE Quirino Field Office, according to Provincial Head Froctoso Agustin, are Career Guidance for 3,971 students, which prepares them for future careers; Placement Assistance, which helps 3,861 workers find jobs through Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs); and Livelihood Assistance, which helps 481 people start or grow small businesses and increase their incomes.
Additionally, the field office assisted 1,420 graduating students with labor education on rights and standards, supported 19,479 displaced workers through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program, assisted 700 students under the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) in working during school breaks to pay for their education, and provided 1,000 youth internships through the Government Internship Program (GIP) to give them practical government experience.
Along with collaborating with TESDA and other organizations to offer skill training, the province has also expanded employment facilitation through initiatives like TUPAD, SPES, and GIP, enabling workers to thrive in a competitive labor market.
According to Agustin, labor inspections and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) training demonstrate the office’s dedication to worker protection by guaranteeing adherence to regulations. Students and job seekers have also been linked to work prospects through career counseling and job fairs.
“Looking ahead, the DOLE Field Office plans to enhance service delivery by maximizing partnerships and digital platforms, staying committed to promoting employment, protecting workers’ welfare, and ensuring industrial peace in the province,” he continued.
