TUGUEGARAO CITY — A One Town, One Product (OTOP) store has opened at Gasat Hall, Capitol Compound, Tuguegarao, Cagayan, showcasing a variety of goods from local producers across the province.

Launched by the Provincial Government of Cagayan, the store provides market access for local entrepreneurs, increasing demand and inspiring them to create more innovative products.

According to EnP. Jennifer Junio-Baquiran, these products reflect the hard work and resourcefulness of the Cagayanos and play a vital role in promoting tourism in the province. The store features a wide range of products, including agricultural goods such as peanut butter, rice, chicha rice, honey, and various household cleaning and massage products. There are also condiments like chili garlic oil and the newly introduced bottled longganisa bits.

In addition to food products, the store offers woven goods such as sarakat from Sta. Praxedes, wooden bags made by BJMP, abaca fiber products, jewelry, and more. The store operates on a consignment system, allowing producers to sell their products without paying rent or fees. The Provincial Government handles marketing, supplier connections, store management, cleaning, and product displays.

Since the building and operations are provided for free, micro and small businesses enjoy a high return on investment. Currently, the province has four product hubs, with plans to establish more, including a pavilion near Our Lady of Piat, which will feature a staff area for visitors, clean restrooms, and free coffee.

Cagayan tourism officials are inviting everyone to visit the province this summer, highlighting its many tourist sites and activities. The OTOP store is just one of the many ways to showcase the rich diversity of Cagayan’s products while supporting local producers.#
