GAMU, Isabela – Government soldiers unearthed an arms cache and several anti-government items in Lasam town, Cagayan province, the military said Thursday, Jan. 13.

Found were barrels of M-16 and M-14 Armalite rifles, two .38-caliber revolvers, and two boxes of anti-government materials, according to Army Capt. Rigor Pamittan, 5th Infantry Division spokesperson.

The materials were discovered Tuesday in Sitio Angkiram, Barangay Sicalao, and brought to the 17th Infantry Battalion headquarters in Alcala for disposition.

Pamittan said rebels belonging to the Komiteng Rehiyon-Cagayan Valley of the New People’s Army own the items.

A former rebel led the Army soldiers to the war materiel, Pamittan said.#
