CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela-The National Bureau of Investigation-Isabela, tasked as the lead agency in probing the Cabagan-Santa Maria bridge collapse has yet to wrap up its investigation and could not immediately divulge the progress of their inquiries.
NBI-Isabela Head Agent Chris Mesa told this news correspondent in an interview on March 5 that they could not divulge yet the ongoing progress of their investigation. He said that they will release the result once the probe has already been finished.
“We would remain silent on the progress of the investigation,” he said.
He said that they would also tap private experts in bridge construction to help them in the investigation aside from other agencies.
Meanwhile, the public works and highways regional office has remained firm that they are having technical assessments of the bridge collapse and that they need experts from Bureau of Designs and Bureau of Construction central offices to help them in their inquiries.
As this developed, Cabagan police authorities have acquired a footage of the actual video that was allegedly taken by the helper of the driver of the ill-fated truck which fell along with the bridge. The footage showed that they were cruising the bridge when it collapsed before they would cross the third span. The owner and authenticity of the video, however, is still being verified.#
