The Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 2, in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Dinapigue, Isabela, successfully concluded Part II of the Eco-Tour Guides Training Program, further strengthening the competencies of tourism frontliners in the municipality. This initiative, spearheaded under the leadership of Hon. Vicente D. Mendoza, Municipal Mayor of Dinapigue, was made possible through the dedicated coordination of Mr. Florante D. Rivera from the Municipal Tourism Office.
The training program was conducted from February 4 to 7, 2025, providing an extensive learning experience for participants. Regional Director Troy Alexander Miano set the tone for the training, underscoring the importance of capacity-building in local tourism. He also expressed gratitude to LGU Dinapigue for its unwavering commitment to prioritizing tourism development. Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Romeo Caranguian provided an insightful overview of the current tourism landscape in the region and emphasized the significance of Child-Wise Tourism, ensuring that tourism initiatives remain inclusive and safe for all visitors.
The training program empowered 21 participants with essential knowledge and practical skills crucial to their roles as eco-tour guides. The comprehensive sessions covered a range of vital topics, including Basic Life Support, where participants learned life-saving techniques, and Rescue Techniques, which combined theoretical discussions with hands-on return demonstrations. To further enhance their preparedness, an actual Water Safety Search and Rescue demonstration was conducted, equipping the frontliners with critical skills for managing emergencies in aquatic environments. Additionally, a Survival Cooking demonstration provided participants with essential techniques to support sustainable eco-tourism initiatives and ensure the well-being of visitors in remote areas.#
