The House of Representatives under the leadership of Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez honored the life and legacy of Albay 1st district Representative Edcel Lagman in a necrological service held in the plenary hall Wednesday afternoon.

In his eulogy, Speaker Romualdez said the late Rep. Lagman came to Congress “to uplift those who were forgotten” and that the statesman devoted his life to unrelenting pursuit of justice, defense of democracy, and fearless exercise of principle.

Former Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. and Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan likewise delivered their heartwarming eulogies for the late seasoned legislator who championed human rights, women’s empowerment, and judicial reforms, among others.

Lagman’s eldest daughter, former Albay 1st district Representative and now Mayor of Tabaco, Albay Cielo Krisel Lagman Luistro delivered her response of gratitude on behalf of their family.

A lot of House Members and employees were in tears inside the session hall as they bid farewell to the brilliant and fearless statesman.

Towards the end of the first part of the necrological service, Speaker Romualdez presented to the Lagman family the memorabilia which includes the late Rep. Lagman’s legislative performance record.#
