IT has been a timely and wise initiative for the local government units and police stations in Cagayan Valley region to strengthen its anti-carnapping schemes by requiring owners and drivers of single motorcycles operating within the region to register their units to the local police offices in a bid to stop crimes such as killings and robberies.
The government’s motorcycle registration program would surely help thwart crimes and mitigate cases of stolen vehicles. History has is that stolen cars are usually being used by criminals to conceal their identities and criminal activities.
The scheme is as simple as that. By having an issued sticker from the police, the identity of the motorcycle owner/driver can be easily verified and his unit’s sticker can be properly authenticated.
The police operation’s inspection will also be enhanced as they can efficiently check on moving vehicles especially those motorcycles and suspicious motor vehicles plying the town’s thoroughfares.
Some local government units have earlier implemented the program. If effectively and properly implemented, the goal to stop crimes will be achieved. In the interest of public order, safety and security the illegal activities of some criminals in the countryside are dead things of the past.
The operation involved a tedious manner and added burden for the law-enforcement agencies. However, the fruits of their sacrifices in stopping crimes with the use of motor vehicles would be sweet once properly implemented.
The ball lies in the hands of the police.#
