AN effective method, indeed, as an immediate alert of the Cagayan Valley Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CVDRRMC) to its members has been hoisted to monitor the surrounding areas due to the possible fall of debris from the rocket launched by China over the weekend.

According to the CVDRRMC, based on the notification issued by the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA), the Long March 7A space rocket flew at the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in Wenchang, Hainan, China on August 22.

It is possible that the debris will fall at a distance of 38 nautical miles northwest of Burgos, Ilocos Norte or 61 nautical miles West of Dalupiri Island.

According to the authorities, it is also possible that it will fall 66 nautical miles East Northeast of Sta Ana or 82 nautical miles East Southeast of Babuyan Island.

In this regard, the CVDRRMC advised the public to inform the authorities when they see suspected debris and not to touch it to avoid any incident.

It is always better to be prepared than to act only when it is too late.#
