FOR Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief of staff Gen. Romeo Brawner, Jr., the move to prop up rescue or repatriation plans for Filipinos in Taiwan would be a sensible action as China is feared to have been bracing for a possible invasion.
Imagine the situation: At least 250,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Taiwan will be caught in the war against China and Taiwan.
The plans would be necessary to ensure the safety and security of Filipinos there who may be caught in the armed conflict.
Save from the Mavulis island in the northernmost islet of Itbayat in Batanes, the country has no other means than to prepare for any eventual skirmishes or a war.
Lately, China has been initiating war games near Taiwan. Build-ups through military hardware are being done by Taiwan to prepare against any invasion of China.
To put everything in order, the Philippine Army’s Northern Luzon Command in the northernmost islands of the country are ever ready with any war to bring overseas Filipino workers back to the country.
The rigorous military exercises and readiness assessments through war games and other military exercises with other countries have been helping the soldiers in the country prepare for rescue works.
The country will never let the Taiwan-China conflict put the OFWs in a precarious situation.#
