AS the Philippine Pet Birth Control Center (PPBCC) Foundation, a non-government organization, will cease its operations, pet owners face gloomy days.

The advocacy-oriented non-government foundation, which offers low-cost neuter and spay and free neuter outreach events under its veterinary hospital, has been the subject of unfound accusations of deaths due to negligence under its care.

Although their medical procedure involves risk, the foundation is being regarded as negligent and heartless.

True, each of these cases was addressed, and it was medically explained to each owner that the deaths were triggered by underlying causes and/or owners insisting on neutering their pets against medical advice, with signed waiver forms, as the foundation has announced.

The veterinary hospital has been instrumental in the foundation’s operations. Without the hospital, the foundation can no longer afford to offer free spay and neuter events to municipalities, subsidized neuter rates, and free neuter services to indigents.

The veterinary hospital has been giving the foundation lowered prices which range from P800-P2,000 to P100-P300, thus, neutering almost 200,000 cats and dogs since March 2017.

Saddening as it is, the foundation has been earning praises from their past clients. This debunked the claims from some incensed people.

Hence, the majority must prevail over some people.

Who know, the operations from the facility’s services will soon be reopened.#
