CABARROGUIS, QUIRINO—In a program on January 20, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) through its Quirino Field Office, in collaboration with the Maddela local government unit, commemorated the 2025 Araw ng Kasambahay while educating the public about the rights of domestic workers under Republic Act 10361, also known as the Batas Kasambahay.
18 Kasambahay from the aforementioned town attended the one-day workshop, where they learned about their rights and the advantages that are accessible to them, including health insurance, social protection, and skill development.
As part of the learning exercise, 16 barangay officials also received training on how to help domestic workers, enforce the law, and handle grievances.
Our goal is for you to learn how to help our vulnerable workers. We wish to strengthen community protection and ensure that domestic workers are treated fairly and with respect,” stated Froctoso Agustin, head of the Quirino Field Office.
The presentation by Senior Labor and Employment Officer Engr. Julex Biagan highlighted important clauses of the Kasambahay Law that guarantee domestic workers’ rights to equitable treatment, pay, and benefits.
Claire Joaquin, Labor Employment Officer II, also offered helpful recommendations for the rescue and rehabilitation of mistreated domestic workers.
Janice Dulnuan, Labor Employment Officer I, emphasized the vital role domestic workers play in bolstering households and the economy.
ILO Convention 190, which focuses on ending workplace violence and harassment, particularly for domestic workers, was discussed by Quirino PESO Manager Daniphine Badua.
Flordelie Sagbaen, the manager of Maddela PESO, thanked the attendees and emphasized the value of cooperation and ongoing education in defending the rights of domestic workers and enhancing their working circumstances.#
