BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya-The tie for the first-ranked council seat was solved through a coin toss by the Solano Municipal Board of Canvassers (MBOC) on Tuesday.
The decision was reached after council winners Thomas Dave Santos, a trader, and Clifford Tito, an optometrist, both tied with 13, 451 votes.
Although both won, the top one rank would be important in cases wherein the elected vice mayor either resigns, dies or ascended as mayor by succession.
Santos won in the coin toss to be ranked first.
Both Santos and Tio are first-time councilors.
Under the law, the election board may impose a draw lots, or if agreed upon, by a coin toss, with both parties agreeing to it.#
