The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) has ordered the closure of Fontana Leisure Park and Casino, located within the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga. This action follows the discovery of an unauthorized makeshift COVID-19 treatment facility operating on the premises.

Authorities conducted a raid on May 20, 2020, uncovering an illicit medical facility catering primarily to Chinese nationals. The facility lacked the necessary permits and was operating in violation of health regulations.

The CDC emphasized that the unauthorized medical facility posed significant health risks, leading to the immediate suspension of Fontana’s operations. This is not the first time Fontana has faced closure; in December 2016, the casino was shut down due to the absence of proper permits.

The recent closure affects over 500 employees, including 346 from the resort and 229 from the casino.#
