SANTIAGO CITY- The Mother of Perpetual Help Parish in Sta. Fe, Nueva Vizcaya had its tabernacle and other items looted and destroyed on Monday, prompting condemnation from the leadership of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bayombong, the governing body of the said sect’s churches in Nueva Vizcaya.
In a media-released report by the Diocese of Bayombong, it said that a parish staff earlier found the locks broken, chapel and office looted, equipment scattered, tabernacle destroyed, and Blessed Sacrament scattered on the floor.
The Roman Catholic church strongly condemned this as a blatant violation of religion and called it blasphemy.
“We Catholics believe that the Blessed Sacrament is not just simple bread but the true body of Christ our Lord. That is why what happened is a great blow to us as Catholic believers,” the Diocese added.
Because of what happened, the Diocese would perform a public penance through three Via Crucis, confession outside the Parish, and the celebration of Mass to bless the new tabernacle.
The police have already coordinated with Fr. Virgilio Mendoza, the parish priest as an investigation has been ongoing and a pursuit operation was done. The looters, however, remain at large. #
