TUGUEGARAO CITY-Police Brig.Gen. Roy Parena has officially took over as regional police director in turnover rites at the Camp Marcelo Adduru regional headquarters on August 6 here.

Parena last served as deputy director for the PNP Directorate of Police Community Relations at Camp Crame.

He officially replaced Police Brig. Gen. Antonio Marallag Jr., a native of Cagayan Valley, who served for almost ten months.

Marallag will take the post police community relations deputy director post left by Parena.

Police Maj. Gen. Vicente Ignacio, acting chief of the PNP directorial staff at Camp Crame, administered the turnover rites.

Parena graduated under the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class of 1993 and also served as deputy director of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group and deputy director for Police Regional Office 7 (Central Visayas).

In January 2020, Parena served as provincial director of the Antique Police Provincial Office.

Marallag lauded police members in the region for supporting his leadership, which he said has enabled the region to achieve high performance in meeting the target accomplishments.”

“I am also grateful because, for almost 10 months of leading Police Regional Office 2, I was surrounded by dedicated and hardworking individuals,” said Marallag, who was teary-eyed later while bidding goodbye to his subordinates in the regional office.

The regional police office “will be in good hands” under the leadership of Parena and urged everyone to extend even greater support and loyalty to the new director than what he himself received, Marallag said.

In his speech, Parena sought the continued support of police members and stakeholders for his administration, assuring that “the PNP remains committed to risking their lives to protect others and ensure a peaceful society.”

“Rest assured that we will sustain all the efforts of Regional Director Marallag. We will continue to find ways to achieve and maintain the swift response of the police,” Parena added.#
