CABARROGUIS, Quirino – A 17-year-old student from Diffun town in this province has depicted life’s struggles through a miniature shanty.

Macdaryll Malto, a University of the Philippines-Baguio Fine Arts student, said on Thursday he “painstakingly made and finished the miniature craft” as a course requirement to depict social issues in one of his subjects.

Malto used glue and paint in building his miniature shanty made out of recyclable and indigenous materials.

He said the artwork, which shows a typical dwelling of ordinary folks in the countryside, speaks of the significance of education, unity and responsibility of government leaders.

The miniature craft would serve as “an eye-opener” of the real situation of the poor people in the country, Malto noted.

However, he said he did not intend to inject politics into the artwork that symbolizes poverty.

He asked his fellow students to also show their craft and air their sentiments on social and economic issues to help leaders decide and urge them to become more sincere and diligent in extending services to their constituents. ( Villamor Visaya Jr., Philippine Daily Inquirer News Correspondent/Philippine News Agency News Stringer )

Aggabao, a lawyer and bar topnotcher, served as congressman for three consecutive terms.

His wife, Maria Lourdes, succeeded him from 2016 to 2019. Aggabao also served as a provincial board member.

TUGUEGARAO CITY-A 30-foot giant Christmas tree, touted as the biggest in this year’s holiday decorations in the city, has been launched and lit up at the SM Center Tuguegarao Downtown on Saturday night.

The much-awaited Tuguegarao mall’s giant Christmas centerpiece launching at the mall atrium has a giant gift box on its base which represents season of giving, public relations officer Gerina Malubay-Torno said.

This year’s theme for the centerpiece is a Christmas Village, a multi-purpose centerpiece consisting of selling, dining, and fun areas for the shoppers to experience, she added.

The Christmas tree is decorated with red and golden Christmas balls while dining gazebos and reindeers surround the centerpiece. The launching came after the mall’s donation of hats and boots to the selected 4Ps beneficiary-farmers from the different barangays of Tuguegarao City, a part of the company’s pledge in its 100 days of caring and giving this year’s Christmas countdown, Torno added.

“The way we celebrate this festive season may change with the times, but many beautiful things remain: Sharing our time, food and gifts, the love of friends and family through hard times and adversity – these are the real blessings of Christmas,” Assistant Mall Manager Romel Uy said.

Uy also added that mall employees are 100-percent fully vaccinated for the safety of its customers and families.  The Christmas Village will be on display until January 2022.#
