CAUAYAN CITY- The lease agreement of the public market in this city has been sought to be annulled in the Civil Case no. 4196 filed before the Office of the Clerk of Court-Regional Trial Court on Friday (March 28) late afternoon.

Named defendants are the city government of Cauayan, incumbent City Mayor Caesar Dy Jr., Vice Mayor Leoncio Dalin Jr. and the city councilors, and LKY Development Corporation.

Plaintiff Billy Virgilio Dy said that the lease agreement, which is under a 30-year lease agreement and subject to a 20-year renewal, is grossly disadvantageous to the government, gave unwarranted benefits to a private company and detrimental to the residents of the city.

The plaintiff said in his complaint that the lease agreement, which was found the COA “to be disadvantageous” and in effect, the city government’s lease with LKY Development Corporation caused a decrease in revenue collection for the city’s operation.

The public defendants did not issue any comment yet while their confidants said that they will comment upon receipt of the copy of the filed case.

The company also did not issue yet any statement as their officials claimed their lawyer will handle the case. #
