TUGUEGARAO CITY-Showing their culinary prowess, eleven clustered barangay contingents of Ibanag cooks competed with each other and served all-time favorite local dishes during the city’s Pavvurulun Afi Festival cook fest at the trade fair in Tabacalera, Ugac Sur on August 8.

The cooked traditional Ibanag dishes such as igado, zinaga or dinuguan, inabraw or dinengdeng na gulay, bitsuelas and beef kaldereta “brought local communities in the city together to honor Ibanag culture and culinary traditions,” City Mayor Maila Ting-Que said during the Friday event.

“As we showcase our own local dishes, we aim to develop our culinary heritage and to be one of the premier food tourism hubs in the country,” she later told this news correspondent in an interview.

The clustered contingent no. 6 of Cataggaman Nuevo, Viejo and Pardo was adjudged champion.They received P15,000 prize. They also won P9,000 or P3,000 each for best inabraw, best kaldereta and best zinaga or dinuguan.
