TUGUEGARAO CITY-Incumbent Abulug Mayor Jesus Emmanuel “Manny” Vargas died on March 13 morning due to a reported cardiac arrest in his town. He was 58-year-old.
Confirmed by his relatives and friends through their town hall pages, Vargas was described as a civic-spirited local official. He filed his certificate of candidacy in October last year as an unopposed bet.
He was also unopposed in 2022. His son, reelectionist vice mayor Jesus Florencio “Jeff” Vargas would take over as mayor by succession. He also served as vice mayor from 2019 to 2022.#
