BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya-A truck loaded with sacks of feed collided with a parked Elf truck along the Hingyon-Banaue Road in Barangay Tam-an, Banaue, Ifugao at 5:30 AM on August 1.

The injured driver, who was not identified due to the Data Privacy Act, was immediately taken to the hospital and has been declared in stable condition.

The collision also caused a two-hour road closure, disrupting traffic flow. According to the police report, the truck had brake problems while going downhill, so the driver was forced to maneuver onto the uphill side of the road. However, it went out of control, overturned, and crashed into a parked Elf truck.

As a result, the road was blocked by the sacks of feeds strewn along the road.

The road was closed for two hours due to clearing, which include moving the truck to the roadside and lifting the scattered sacks of feed.

No civilians were injured in the area as firefighters and members of the Banaue disaster responders, along with residents, helped each other immediately.

The slippery road due to past rains has allegedly contributed to the crash.

Meanwhile, a landslide was recorded on August 1 in Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya, blocking a road and was rendered inaccessible to motorists.

According to the Municipal Disaster Risk-reduction Management Council-Kayapa, the landslide occurred along the provincial road on the Junction-Kayapa Proper Road, specifically in Galian, Besong towards Kayapa Proper East, Kayapa Proper West, Cabalatan Alang, and Alang Salacsac.

Due to the landslide, the road was closed and motorists were advised to take alternative routes during the clearing operations. #
