AS the United States of America reels from the effects of a conflict of estranged friends, President Donald Trump and technology businessman-billionaire Elon Musk, the plan to cancel $9 billion in funding for foreign aid and public broadcasting was approved by Republicans.
The senators under Trump have been upbeat to beef up its financial reserves by slashing the federal budget, which is being opposed by the Democrats.
Newspaper reports showed that the budget cut has hardly made a dent to the $1 trillion in annual savings being pushed by Musk.
In contrast, though, the budget cut does not achieve the purpose as the Republicans earlier passed a domestic policy bill which is expected to add more than $3 trillion to US debt.
While the Trump administration calls for a greater fiscal responsibility and government efficiency, the Democrats would likely never succeed in opposing the bill as both chambers of Congress are Republican-controlled.
As the House of Representatives and the Senate passed the bill, it will be at the hands of Trump, who is expected to sign it into a law.
Sorry for the public broadcasters, the $1.1 billion diminished fund will put a large dent to the broadcasting service in the next two years.
Why Trump pushed for the slash of funds, claiming biased coverage? The past elections never show that most of these public broadcasters worked against his will.
They are just performing their jobs to achieve transparency, objectivity, and truth. Sad years lie ahead for public broadcasters in the United States of America.#
