CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela- Nine persons sustained firecracker – related injures in Isabela, the provincial disaster risk-reduction management officer said on Sunday.

Jimmy Rivera, Isabela provincial disaster risk-reduction management officer, said there were two victims each in Echague, Cauayan City, Tumauini and Cabagan and one in San Pablo.

Rivera said the youngest victim is an 11-year-old boy and the oldest a 48-year-old man.

Despite the injuries, Rivera said the New Year’s revelry was “relatively peaceful” with no stray bullet cases.

As this developed, the authorities seized P10,000-worth of assorted illegal firecrackers, Fire Officer 1 Dennis John Duendo, Cauayan City fire station spokesperson, said.

No fire incidents were reported during the festivities to usher in 2022.#
