TUGUEGARAO CITY- At least 754 Cagayano workers affected by the recent typhoons received a total of P3.6 million in wages under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) Program in the towns of Ballesteros, Claveria, and Pamplona towns in Cagayan.
Each beneficiary received ₱4,800 during the payout held at the Pamplona Gymnasium on January 29, under the supervision of the DOLE Cagayan Field Office. This initiative is part of DOLE’s response to residents affected or who lost their jobs due to typhoon Marce, Ofel, Kristine, and Pepito in 2024.
“Malaki ang naitulong ng TUPAD sa amin. Nais kong pasalamatan ang ating gobyerno sa suporta at malasakit na nagbigay-daan upang makabangon at magpatuloy sa aming pamumuhay,” said Jerelyn Gascon, a TUPAD worker.
Cagayan Field Office Head Laura Diciano emphasized the importance of the wages received by the beneficiaries.
“The salary you received is the result of your hard work and perseverance. May you use it wisely and meaningfully for your family. This is also a recognition of your hard work and dedication,” CFO Head Diciano said.
Overall, this January, the DOLE provided over P9.5M TUPAD salary to 1,975 beneficiaries from various towns in Cagayan.#
