TUGUEGARAO CITY––Four children in Cagayan Valley were injured due to firecrackers ahead of the New Year revelry, authorities said on Tuesday.

Dr. Rio Magpantay, Department of Health (DOH) director in the region, said the cases, reported from Dec. 21 to 28, involved 8- to 12-year-old children.

Two victims are from Cagayan province, one from Isabela and one from Nueva Vizcaya, data from the DOH-Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit showed.

Three of the victims suffered blast or burn injuries, and one had a burn injury that required amputation.

Two of the victims were hurt when they lit up the firecrackers, while the two others were just bystanders. INQ
