The search and rescue operation continues for a 16-year-old boy who drowned in Cagayan River in Barangay Carallangan, Alcala, Cagayan.
The man was identified as Johnmark Costales, a motorboat operator and resident of the said area.
According to Geffrey Aresta, Operations and Warning Section Chief of MDRRMO-Alcala, at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, February 28, 2025, someone reported to their office about the incident, which they immediately responded to.
Aresta said that while the victim was crossing the Cagayan River using a passenger motorboat with three passengers and one companion, the victim, who was at the back of the boat, suddenly fell.
No one noticed the victim’s disappearance that’s why they were unable to immediately help him.
The victim may have suffered an epileptic seizure, which could have caused him to fall into the river.
Their search and rescue efforts are said to be difficult because of the strong current, but the office assured that they will do everything to find the victim. #
